Secret animosity in women.
The lingering sensation that someone does not have your best interest in mind.
Here are ten behaviours that can help you identify if someone has something against you.
1.- They celebrate your losses.
When something goes south she can barely contain her excitement. It’s almost as if they are glad that it happened, your setback is their reward. They don’t tell it to you straight, but you can see clearly from their reaction that they are happy about it. They are pleased that things didn’t work out for you.
Example: Your breakup lands like news they’ve been waiting for. They skip the sympathy and leap straight to: “Now we can be single together!”
2.- Their advice is laced with a hint of sabotage.
When a woman is quietly rooting against you, her guidance tends to steer you off course. If you ask for sincere advice, she offers suggestions that she would ever choose for herself. Options that lead you away from your goals and closer to an outcome that benefits them, not you.
Example: You tell them you’re getting strange vibes from someone pursuing you. Instead of showing concern, they shrug and say: “Well, you can always just sleep with them.” It’s a reply that treats your intuition like an inconvenience, meant to undermine your discomfort.
3.- They remind you of your mistakes.
Sometimes the conversation steers into a trap, in which they will be sure to remind you of your missteps. They do it intentionally, often in front of others, with a little jab attached to make it sting just enough. They seem to enjoy delivering it.
Example: There’s always that friend who reminds the group of the time you got too drunk or made a bad joke. They never miss a chance to bring it up, especially when it puts you on the spot.
4.- They try to imitate you.
Imitation isn’t always flattery, sometimes it’s a quiet form of competition. They start mirroring your clothes, your mannerisms, your makeup — absorbing the pieces of you they wish they had for themselves. And somehow when they mimic you, they still want to be seen as the original.
Example: You wore a jumper with a cardigan last time you got together, and now they’re sending you a picture of themselves in the same outfit. Or even worse they show up to the next meeting wearing something similar.
5.- Compliments are never just that.
Their praise always seems rough around the edges. They may intend to give you a compliment, but somehow it always lands like criticism instead. Even when the words are kind, there is an undertone that drags you down.
Example: “Wow, you look really nice! I’ve never seen you this pretty before.” It’s a praise that sounds sweet until you understand what it implies — that all the other times, you just weren’t polished enough.
6.- They reserve their warmth for an audience.
In private, they are cold or indifferent, but the moment there is someone else in the room — they transform. Suddenly they are affectionate, supportive, the perfect picture of a devoted friend. Their warmth is not meant for you, it’s meant to be witnessed by others.
Example: They show no interest until the moment you make plans with someone else. Then they suddenly insist on joining, acting far more invested than they ever were in private.
7.- They keep tally on favours and presents.
Every gesture they make comes with invisible strings attached. A gift becomes a debt. They never forget what they’ve done for you, because nothing they give is ever truly free; there’s always an expectation attached.
Example: Your last birthday present from them was 30€, so now they expect their present from you to match that exact amount.
8.- They show concern to others about your life.
They rarely ask how you are actually doing, yet somehow they manage to express deep worry about you to everyone else. They avoid real conversations with you, but openly show their concern to others, as if they’re carrying your burdens with them. When in reality it’s a performance meant to show everyone how devoted they are.
Example: A friend tells you: “She said she’s really worried about your relationship.” Even though she has never once asked you how things are actually going.
9.- They apologize in ways that shift the blame towards you.
They never acknowledge their actions, instead they twist the situation so the fault lands on you. Their apology becomes a subtle accusation, their remorse is rewritten as a correction to your reaction. The burden of the mistake quietly handed back to you, as if your behaviour was the problem all along.
Example: When they make an obvious jab at you and you show discomfort their reply always goes along the lines of: “I didn’t mean it like that, you are just overreacting”
10.- They ask questions just to get ammunition.
Their curiosity isn’t genuine, it’s strategic. They gather small snippets of information about your concerns, only to bring them up later in ways you didn’t expect. For them information is a weapon.
Example: You confide that you are overwhelmed and days later she tells someone that you cannot handle basic stress.

Unfortunately I've experienced many of these through my mother-in-law. I pray the Lord softens her heart! Great rundown with beautiful descriptions. And all so true!
This is so beautiful and such an interesting read
